This community forum is designed to gather input

A brief presentation on the budget outlook will be

provided by Superintendent Karen Conroy as well as

light refreshments. We look forward to engaging

St. Johnsbury, VT — August 21, 2024. The St. Johnsbury School District kicked off the new school year with its first day of in-service on August 21, 2024. This engaging event, organized by the district’s leadership team, welcomed back the dedicated staff and set the stage for the year ahead. The event started with a motivating address from Superintendent Karen Conroy, whose remarks set an inspiring tone for the coming school year. Her speech focused on the district’s vision, mission, and ongoing strategies to advance the district’s strategic plan. She also updated staff on the summer construction progress, noting that recent flooding had caused delays in some of the exterior projects.

Following Conroy’s address, several exceptional staff members were honored for their outstanding contributions:

• Teachers of the Year: Lauren Farina and Bill Fitzgerald
• Paraprofessionals of the Year: Amanda Hartwell and Rebecca Schoenemann
• Support Staff of the Year: Donna Paquette
• Additionally, the district recognized staff members for their significant milestones of service: 5 Years: Kim Matthews, Phyllis Colby, Sarah Gray, Mahlon Davis, Rebecca Gillespie, Kelly Rodgers
• 10 Years: Dawn Aguirre, Lisa Emerson, Elizabeth Ladd Carter, Heather Rutledge
• 20 Years: Wendy Smith, Bridget Ferrin Smith, Melody Persons, Deb Grasso
• 20 Years of Service in the District: Matt McLean
• 25 Years: Viola Champney, Carol Hale
• 35 Years: Carl Johnson, Beth Piper

The three-day in-service schedule included activities to foster professional development and team cohesion. Staff participated in a variety of focused sessions, including deep dives into Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
