·         Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the School District and carries out the policies of the School Board relating to educational or business affairs of the school district

 

·         Identifies the educational goals and prepare plans to achieve those goals

 

·         Hires all non-licensed personnel; recommends to the Board a candidate for all licensed positions.  If Board declines that recommendation, Superintendent brings forth another candidate

 

·         Advises the Board on matters of policy and the law

 

·         Represents the School District in contract negotiations

 

·         Responsible for adhering to all federal and state laws, state rules, employment agreements and contracts, and mandates

 

·         Furnishes the Commissioner with required data and information

 

·         Provides for the general supervision of the public schools

 

School Improvement Grant (SIG) and Consolidated Federal Programs (CFP) Project Director  (60% funded through grants)

·         Responsible for developing and overseeing the above grants

 

·         Chairs the SIG team and provides all required reports to the Commissioner

 

·         Supervises all consultants

 

·         Provides professional development to the faculty and supports the administrative team as they implement the new supervisory system

 

·         Serves as the District representative on the ViiM (Vermont Integrated Instruction Model) team which will be dedicated to implementing additional behavioral supports and integrating them within our current system

·         Responsible for all special services to students, including IEPs, 504s, and other special plans for all students in the District age 0-22

 

·         Supervises all early childhood programs

 

·         Represents School District on all interagency teams

 

·         Supervision of special services faculty, assuring compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations

 

·         Development of the district service plan to be submitted to the state annually

 

·         Responsible for all state and federal reporting

 

·         Oversees all out-of-district placements

 

·         Develops and manages the budget for all special services and related grants

·         Oversees and manages all the financial activities of the district (including but not limited to tracking monthly expenses, overseeing and monitoring grants, loans, all sources of revenue, reconciling all statements, and preparing the Annual District Report)

·         Prepares budgets in conjunction with the administrative team

 

·         Prepares the many required quarterly and yearly reports

 

·         Maintains the district financial statements for the Board and for auditors

·         Works directly with the administrative team and all faculty and staff dedicated to providing positive climate and behavior

 

·         Chairs meetings of the Behavior Intervention Teams in each house and follows up on plans made for struggling students

 

·         Supervises faculty designated by the Principal, including UArts faculty and SSC paraeducators.

 

·         Conducts investigations of alleged bullying and harassment

 

·         Works with classroom teachers on strategies designed to maintain discipline in a positive learning community so that all students can learn

·         Conducts technology walk-throughs and follows-up on any technology audit conducted
