Welcome to Mrs. Smith's 5th grade webpage for 2011 - 2012.
I am looking forward to getting to know all the 5th grade students and their families this year. Please feel free to call with any questions.
It is my hope that students arrive each day feeling ready and willing to challenge themselves toward new learning. I will guide students to practice good work ethic at school. I will encourage teamwork skills and positive risk taking, too. This will mean that we all have to be flexible and caring as we work together to achieve our goals.
At home, please support your 5th grader with homework. The expectation is that each student will read for 30 minutes each evening. The name of the book and the pages read are to be recorded in the planner. ( Example: Loser, p. 3- 14. ) In addition to reading, math or another subject may be assigned. Students are responsible for recording the homework in the planner before leaving school. Parents are requested to sign the planner each evening to indicate the homework has been completed.
